Profhilo & Bio-Remodelling in Rossendale

Profhilo is the best-known bio-remodelling injectable in the UK. I do not use it — I use Teoxane BabyGLOW for the same job, and this page explains the comparison honestly.

Not offered here

I do not use Profhilo. For the same job I use Teoxane BabyGLOW. It does the same job by the same mechanism, and it is the bio-remodelling product I judged best on evidence, safety profile and how it behaves once it is in the tissue. The comparison is set out below rather than left for you to discover at the consultation.

Profhilo is what most people mean when they ask about the injectable that improves skin quality rather than filling it, and it is the name they have usually heard first. I do not offer it. I offer bio-remodelling — the same category, the same mechanism — using Teoxane BabyGLOW, and I would rather set out the reasoning here than have you find out at the consultation.

What bio-remodelling actually is

Bio-remodelling uses a very high concentration of hyaluronic acid, stabilised without heavy cross-linking, so instead of staying where it is injected it disperses through the tissue over the following days. That is what separates it from a filler: it is not placed to build a shape, it is placed to spread.

The effect is hydration held in the dermis, a firming of skin that has become lax, and a stimulatory effect on the cells that produce collagen and elastin. It is given at a small number of fixed points rather than as a mesh across the face, and it characteristically leaves visible raised blebs at each point for a few hours.

Profhilo is one product in that category. It is a good one and it is the one with the marketing budget. It is not the only one, and the category matters more than the brand.

Why I use BabyGLOW instead

Every product used at Charis is assessed on its clinical evidence, its safety profile, the manufacturing standards behind it and how it behaves once it is in the tissue. On that assessment Teoxane BabyGLOW is the bio-remodelling product I chose, and I have stayed with it.

It is a considered choice rather than a cost-saving one, and I will happily talk you through the reasoning in person. What I will not do is stock a brand because it is the one you have heard of — that is how a clinic ends up with a fridge full of products chosen by advertising rather than by assessment.

If, having heard the comparison, Profhilo specifically is what you want, I will tell you so honestly and I would rather you had it somewhere that uses it than have it here from someone talked into it.

What BabyGLOW involves

Two sessions four weeks apart, then maintenance at around six months. Each appointment takes about half an hour. The result shows itself from around four to six weeks, and it is a change in skin quality — firmness, hydration and how light sits on the skin — rather than a change in shape.

It is not a filler and it will not correct volume loss, a heavy jowl or a flat midface. If that is what is bothering you, the honest answer is that you are looking at the wrong category, and I will say so.

You will be given written aftercare before you leave, and a direct number to reach me on if anything concerns you afterwards. Reviews are offered at two weeks so we can assess the result together and adjust if needed.

Sources and further reading

This page is general information, not personal medical advice. Every treatment needs an individual assessment, and what is right for someone else may not be right for you.

We do not publish before-and-after images for wrinkle-relaxing treatments. The medicine used is prescription-only, and UK advertising rules do not permit it to be promoted to the public — including through result photographs. We will show you relevant examples in person at your consultation.

Common questions

Profhilo & Bio-Remodelling — what people ask

Do you offer Profhilo?
No. I offer bio-remodelling, and the product I use for it is Teoxane BabyGLOW. It does the same job by the same mechanism. Come and talk it through and I will explain the reasoning — and if Profhilo specifically is what you want, I will tell you honestly whether I think it would serve you better.
Is BabyGLOW as good?
For the job it does, I judged it the better of the two on evidence, safety profile and behaviour in the tissue, which is why it is the one I stock. That is my clinical opinion rather than a settled fact, and I am happy to be questioned on it.
What does it cost?
BabyGLOW is £295 for a single treatment or £850 for a course of three. Profhilo is not priced here because it is not offered.
Which should I have — this or polynucleotides?
Bio-remodelling generally suits skin that has lost firmness and bounce across an area. Polynucleotides generally suit thin, delicate or damaged skin, and they are the stronger option under the eyes. There is a full comparison in the guides, and it is a consultation question rather than a menu question.

Consultations are £30, and that comes off the cost of your treatment if you go ahead. No pressure to book anything on the day — if you are not sure whether you want treatment at all, that is still a good reason to come and talk.
