The platysma is the broad sheet of muscle across the front of the neck. As it tightens with age it pulls down on the jawline and creates visible vertical bands. Relaxing it releases that downward pull, allowing the jawline to sit better — an effect named after the profile on the bust of Nefertiti.
What it does and does not do
It softens the bands, releases the downward tension on the jaw and can improve definition along the jawline. It does not remove loose skin, and it does not do what a surgical neck lift does. If skin laxity is the main issue, this is not your treatment and I will tell you so.
Every treatment begins with a full-face assessment and an honest conversation. If I do not think a treatment is clinically indicated or right for you, I will say so and explain why — including when the answer is to do nothing.

Nefertiti Neck Lift — what people ask
- Is it a replacement for a surgical neck lift?
- No. It addresses muscular pull, not skin laxity. It suits people with reasonable skin quality and visible platysmal banding.
- How long does it last?
- Typically three to four months, similar to other anti-wrinkle treatments.
- Is a Nefertiti lift safe?
- The common effects are temporary and minor: a small bruise, occasional headache in the first day, and rarely a temporary heaviness of the brow or eyelid if the product spreads beyond where it was placed. That last one resolves as the effect wears off. Serious complications are rare, and the main variables are anatomical knowledge and dose.
- Can I have a Nefertiti lift while pregnant or breastfeeding?
- No, not during pregnancy or breastfeeding. As with all injectables here it is a precaution rather than evidence of harm, and it is not a treatment that cannot wait.
