The masseter is the muscle that closes the jaw. When it is overdeveloped — usually through clenching or grinding — it widens the lower face and can cause jaw ache, headaches and dental wear. Relaxing it addresses both the shape and the symptom, and for many people the symptom is the reason they come.
Two reasons people have this
Cosmetically, reducing masseter bulk narrows the lower face and creates a softer, more tapered jawline over several months.
Functionally, it reduces clenching and grinding — which for people with bruxism can mean fewer headaches, less jaw pain and less damage to their teeth. If you grind, it is worth telling your dentist you are having this done.
Timeline
Relief from clenching often comes within a few weeks. Visible narrowing takes longer — the muscle reduces gradually over two to three months, and the effect builds with repeat treatment.
You will be given written aftercare before you leave, and a direct number to reach me on if anything concerns you afterwards. Reviews are offered at two weeks so we can assess the result together and adjust if needed.

Common questions
Jaw Slimming & Clenching — what people ask
- Will it change my face shape?
- Over two to three months the lower face usually narrows and softens. It is a gradual change rather than an immediate one.
- Will it help my jaw pain and headaches?
- For pain driven by clenching and grinding, often yes. It will not help jaw pain from other causes, which is why assessment matters — and some jaw problems belong with a dentist or a maxillofacial specialist, not with me.
- Will it affect my chewing?
- Dosed correctly, no. Some people notice mild fatigue with very chewy food for a short period after the first treatment.
