PRP for hair uses the same principle as the facial treatment — your own concentrated platelets — delivered into the scalp to support the follicles. It works best on thinning rather than on areas where hair has been absent for years, because it supports follicles that are still alive rather than creating new ones.
Who it suits
Early-stage thinning, widening partings, and reduced density. It is used for both male and female pattern hair loss, and after other causes of hair loss have been considered.
It is not a transplant and it will not restore hair to an area that has been fully bald for a long time. Being clear about that before you spend money is part of the consultation.
Investigating the cause first
Hair loss has many causes — thyroid dysfunction, iron deficiency, postpartum changes, stress, medication, autoimmune conditions. Treating the scalp without asking why the hair is thinning is treating a symptom. Where something needs investigating, I will tell you to see your GP first.
Course and results
Typically three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, then maintenance every six to twelve months. Hair grows slowly; expect to judge results at six months, not six weeks.
You will be given written aftercare before you leave, and a direct number to reach me on if anything concerns you afterwards. Reviews are offered at two weeks so we can assess the result together and adjust if needed.

PRP for Hair Loss — what people ask
- Does PRP actually work for hair loss?
- The evidence is reasonably supportive for early-stage androgenetic hair loss, and weaker where follicles are no longer viable. It is not a guaranteed result for anyone, and I will not tell you it is.
- How soon will I see a change?
- Reduced shedding is often the first sign, within a couple of months. Visible density changes take longer — six months is a fair point at which to judge.
- Is it painful?
- The scalp is sensitive. Numbing is used and most people tolerate it well, but it is more uncomfortable than the facial treatment.
